Design:

The Acer Aspire One Happy 10.1 inch netbook comes neatly packed in a small box along with the charger, black sleeve and cloth. Acer has always been wise enough to pack the netbook with the sleeve and a cloth to wipe the netbook. They can be very useful because, since the netbook is quite glossy, the sleeve and the cloth play a very important role and it can be irritating when we have to buy them separately. Upon unboxing, you will find yourself staring at a beautiful and tiny netbook. Now the colour depends on your choice and as acer puts it, you can choose your “color of joy”. The Acer Aspire One Happy netbook is available in four different ranges of choices, namely, Candy Pink, Lime Green, Lavender Purple and Hawaii blue. The netbook is coloured on the outer cover and the palm rest area while the rest of the area are white in colour with a black display. The entire netbook is glossy and this means that the screen is very sensitive to light. The viewing angles are also average only. The happy in a nutshell, has features that are similar to its predecessor D255 with the only difference being the choice of colours.

The Happy netbook is a 10.1″ netbook with a native resolution of 1024 x 600p. This resolution is good enough for a 10.1 inch netbook and the video quality would be decently good in this resolution. Since the machine is a small one, it is quite thin and comparatively of less weight. The netbook measures a length of 259 mm, while it has a depth and height of 24 and 185 mm. The display is of LED backlit widescreen type. Most of the netbooks these days come with the backlit widescreen type. Thus the introduction of these four colours to this netbook is a great pleasure because, it makes the netbook look vibrant, soft, smooth, appealing and at the same time attractive.

Keyboard:

If you found yourself staring at something in the netbook, it would be the keyboard. The keyboard of this machine is really pretty and is of isolated type. The keys are neatly spaced out within the small area and it is nearly full sized. The keyboard does not have an integrated numeric keypad. So the users will have to use the number keys to type the numbers. All the other keys are well spaced and the users would not find it arduous to type. The entire keyboard is of beautiful white while the rest of the area is coloured. There are four LEDs on the left corner of the netbook for indicating power, caps lock, battery. On the top left corner on the keyboard is the power button.

Touch Pad:

The touchpad of this Aspire One Happy netbook is quite small and compact. The touchpad encompasses only one single button and it can be used for the left and right mouse options. The track pad is coloured but can be easily separated from the rest of the area because the feel is different. Moreover, the touchpad is multi-touch enabled. It supports all the multi-touch gestures like the swiping and pinching. These gestures play a super important role in the photo session.

Microphone, Camera and Speaker:

The Acer crystal eye web camera is positioned on the top bezel of the screen while the speakers are integrated and are of stereo type. Processor, Memory and OS:

The Acer aspire one happy netbook computer uses the Intel Core N450 or the Dual Core N550 processor. The RAM memory is 1GB while it can be extended up to 2GB of DDR3 type. Moreover, the hard disk capacity is about 250GB. The OS used here is the Windows 7 starter but then the netbook gives us another choice, Android. The users can use the operating system of their wish. The netbook has a good number of ports. Though the netbook is small, not many compromises have been made. On the left are present, the power plug, VGA and two USB 2.0 ports. The main ports that are absent are optical drive, HDMI port and express card slot. But then most of the netbooks do not support these ports. So it is not a big deal truly. Connectivity:

It is a basic criterion that the netbooks these days support both wired and wireless connection. Today, even life without coffee might be possible, but then, life without internet has become something incredible. It has got mixed with our daily life and is deep routed. The Acer aspire gives a good performance. The battery life is good and audio and video quality is good. The netbook’s design and colours are good. The netbook gives a good performance indeed. It is difficult to upgrade the memory because it is fixed and can not be easily opened.

Dell Inc., one of the biggest computer manufacturers located in Texas, United States of America, is one of the best manufacturers of the laptops, notebooks and netbooks. The Inspiron Mini is one such netbook produced by Dell and it comes in three series, the Mini 9, Mini 10 and the Mini 12. The Mini 9 and 12 series were brought into the market some time back and most recently the Inspiron mini 10 stepped on to face its rivals.

As the name itself indicates, one of the major differences between the three series is the size. This particular netbook, the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Netbook takes its place as an average sized netbook with a screen size of 10.1 inches and the greatest icing to this model is that the resolution of the screen can be extended from the trivial 1024 x 600p to an astounding 1366 x 768p. This means that the netbook needless to say, exhibits excellent and perfect video performance. The company boasts that the product has been designed to be used for “today as well as tomorrow”. Design:

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is a 10.1 inch netbook which sports an exquisite appearance once the package is opened. The netbook basically comes in black colour, but more money can give you more colour choices, that is, at few extra pounds, the users can make their choice from red, green, pink, blue or white coloured netbook. Though there are these different colours, black is generally the most preferred colour. The red one looks good too. The disadvantage with these green, pink or any coloured netbooks when compared to the black or white version is that these colours are way too bright and might not be pleasing for the eyes. Keyboard:

The keyboard is another big asset for the Inspiron Mini 10. The keys are perfectly and neatly aligned in such a way that it does not cause trouble to the users in any way. Touchpad:

Touchpad is one area where Dell lacked to prove its excellence. The touchpad of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is unlike any touchpad because it does not have the two or single button system, but instead, the left bottom area bends when pressed and thus performs the operations of the left mouse button and similarly the right bottom bends for the right mouse options. This touchpad has the maximum negative comments from the users as very few users find this touchpad comfortable. The Inspiron Mini 9 and 12 fair better than this 10 in this particular aspect.

Microphone, Camera and Speakers:

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 10.1-inch Netbook sports a good microphone, better camera and speakers. The camera is present on the top bezel of the screen and has a resolution of about 0.3 MP. With this camera video conferencing or chatting with friends and relatives will be great fun. Moreover, the speakers are integrated and the sound that comes is clearly audible without much noise. Ports:

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is a netbook. Keeping that in mind, if we look at the ports it is indeed satisfying. At a reasonable price, the netbook offers most of what is necessary. Beginning from the right side of the netbook, the users can find the Ethernet port for getting connected to the internet in the wired mode, two USB 2.0 ports, a HDMI port, Microphone and headphone jack. It is a great news that the netbook includes the HDMI port while there are few netbooks which do not support one. But then one point that has to be mentioned is that the netbook could have been provided with a VGA port instead of HDMI, because with the HDMI the users can play the contents of the netbook on the HD TVs only. If there was a VGA port instead, the users can hook up any video or photos on any external monitor. This is just a small thing that Dell missed to set right, still, not a big deal.

On the left hand side, the Kensington port, the power port, another USB port and a 3-in-1 memory card reader find their positions. The presence of card reader makes it obvious that the users can easily transfer the contents on the cards, for example, the photos on the cards of the digital camera onto this netbook and they can be viewed. This Mini 10 netbook supports 3 cards, the SD/SDHC, MMC, MS/MS Pro. There are 3 USB ports in total which is splendid, especially because the USB ports are present on both sides of the netbook. The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 has no inbuilt optical drive. But if the user desires to have one, then it can be bought externally, though at extra cost. With the kensington port the users can easily lock the contents of their netbook and thereby protecting the data from being lost.

Connectivity:

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 10.1 inch netbook offers both wired and wireless connection to the internet. Nowadays, for most of the people, life has become impossible without the help of the internet (particularly the google!!) Wired connection can be made possible by connecting via the RJ45 Ethernet. The Dell Inspiron Mini provides the wireless connection as an option that is, it does not come along with the netbook, but the users can indeed buy the dongle at an extra cost and make use of it if they so desire and the bluetooth is also optional. The lack of inbuilt wireless and bluetooth connectivity is upsetting, but of course, the solution is simple and therefore no big issues.

Heat:

The netbook remains cool when all that the users do is light surfing, normal works using simple applications. The trouble starts when the netbook is used for intense purposes like gaming, long time downloading, etc., the netbook starts emitting higher quantity of heat that becomes almost intolerable. Most of the companies try to give the best processor and maximum memory possible. The processor employed here is the Intel Atom N455 533MHz FSB with a speed of 1.6GHz. This processor performs well. This netbook has a 1GB DDR3 RAM which is nominal for a netbook of this price range and is well sufficient. The hard drive memory that comes with the package is 160GB. But this can be extended to a good 250GB if the user wishes to. Overall, these specifications are good, though not amazing.

Battery:

The Mini 10 netbook comes with Li-ion battery and the users have two options. They can either choose the 3 cell 24WHr or the 6 cell WHrbattery. Choosing the number of cells purely depends on the user’s requirements and interests. Though it is true that the addition of 3 cells, increases the battery life tremendously, for some the protrusion might make the whole experience worse. With the 6 cell battery the users can sustain without charging their battery for approximately 7 hours and few extra minutes provided the work done on the netbook is not highly challenging.

Performance:

The netbook comes with the Windows 7 Starter pre-installed and this means that it has the best user interface. The chipset and the graphics are Intel NM10; Integrated Intel®  NM10 Express and they have sported a justifiable job too. Most of the netbooks move back a step when it comes to high level jobs like gaming or other balancing multi-tasks and so does this Dell Inspiron Mini 10. Light users would award an “outstanding” ribbon for its performance. Office users would give this netbook a “Good” ribbon while the netbook freaks would give it an “average” ribbon.

Acer Aspire one 532 netbook is a 10.1″ PC with pretty design and good features. Acer is an international organization involved in the production of the electronic goods for a long time and has a good hands-on experience in the production of the netbooks particularly. Netbooks are always handy and portable and these are the main reasons for its fame. The netbooks are in no way equal to the larger notebooks or laptops because the compromise in its size has been reflected in the features too. This particular one, the aspire one 532 comes in three colours, Sapphire Blue, Pearl Silver and Ruby red, though we would say that Pearl silver bears a more professional and appealing look than the other two dark-coloured netbooks and the one under study here is the silver model. The features of this netbook are similar in many ways to the Aspire One D250 with little changes here and there. This netbook is less expensive and has almost all the features that any student or lights users might essentially need. But for a user with high expectations, will this netbook suffice? Design:

The Acer aspire 532h is a cute little netbook with great design. The outer covering is pearl silver in colour with dots over the entire top surface which looks amazing. The inner part of the netbook is white in colour and this combo works out well. The netbook sports a very attractive look and this look actually increases the market demand. The other two models said earlier, the red and the blue ones are a little darker and users who have a craze for highly bright coloured netbooks usually go in for them. This netbook is petite with a screen size of 10.1 inches. The smaller screen size optimizes the space occupied and in turn reduces the weight. For a 3 cell battery, the weight of the machine is about 1.1 Kg while the choice of a 6 cell battery slightly hypes up the weight to 1.25 Kg, not a big difference really, but definitely noticeable. The netbook has a width of 258.5 mm and is 185 mm deep while the height of the entire netbook is merely 25.2 mm. Given these dimensions, it must be obviously understood that the netbook, though not feather-light, is definitely not a burden for the carrying hands. The resolution of this 10 inch netbook is 1024 x 600p, normal for this size netbook but not enough for users who prefer higher resolution. The display is a WSVGA type LED screen with TFT coating. The viewing angles are average only. If the netbook is bent very farther, the screen gets dark making it difficult to view the contents. When the netbook is viewed from the side too, it gets darker. At normal view however, the picture quality is crystal clear at 360 and 720p. However, at 1080p the quality is not quite satisfactory. The silver netbook is actually matte type while the other two are glossy type. This is a great news because the glossiness means that the netbook bears a richness but then to the chagrin, the probability of finger imprints disturbing the neatness of the netbook is really high.

Keyboard:

Chiclet or the island style keyboard always wears a prettiness which outlives the normal keyboard and this is one of the many reasons why most of the netbooks and notebooks these days prefer this chiclet style. So this particular one, the Acer 532 also has acquired these isolated keys. The keys are tiny because of the direct impact of the 10.1” screen, but luckily, the keyboard is full sized or edge-to-edge occupying the entire space and therefore the size of the keys are quite comfortable to type on. There are the usual function keys and the control, alt, shift, delete and the like with an integrated numeric keypad. The edges of each key are rounded giving it an extra perfect look. The left and right mouse buttons are replaced by a single chrome button on the base which is slightly devastating. This is because to make the left click option, the user has to click little away from the centre of the button to get the click in one attempt. If you chose to click on the extreme left end of the button, then you will have to click many times to get the right hit. This is the disappointing part of the netbook. The support for multi-touch gestures is a warm and welcome news. However, what can be expected out of the touchpad of a 10.1” screen? The comfort might not be attained while performing the pinching or rotating or swiping action. For light users the touchpad would do fine, but then for the others, an external mouse is highly commendable.

LED:

The Aspire 532 netbook has 6 LEDs on the lower extreme left side of the glossy wrist area. LEDs always come in handy since they help the lazy users from opening the netbook every time to check the status. These LEDs are used for indicating various purposes like power, Caps Lock, an indicator for wireless usage, for recovery and the like.

Camera, Microphone and Speaker:

The Aspire One 532h-2Dr netbook is inbuilt with a 0.3MP web camera that bridges the distance between the user and the other person with whom communication could be made visually. Video chatting is further enhanced by the presence of the microphone just beside the camera. The stereo speakers are present at the bottom of the keyboard and exhibit good audio clarity and loudness too.

Processor and Memory:

Intel has found refuge in many netbooks these days and so has it got routed into the 532 model. The Intel Atom N450 processor has been used here. An important point to note here is that this processor is a novice entry for Acer and it actually controls both memory as well as graphics. The prime advantage of this function is that it consumes less amount of power and also implies the longevity of the battery life. However, the speed is not quite laudable. But considering the price, there should practically be no complaints though. The disappointing fact is that it sports only 1GB of RAM. This is not quite sufficient and it is highly recommended that Acer provides an upgrade to higher quantity as it is vital for increasing the processor speed. The hard drive capacity has a choice between 160GB and 250GB.

Ports:

Ports basically decide the value of the product and as trivial as any netbook, this one has its ports distributed on both the left and right sides of the netbook, making it less crowded and also easing the use of many ports simultaneously. On the right side are present the ports for, LAN, kensington lock, USB 2.0 port, microphone jack, headphone jack and an SD card slot. The left side sports the power adaptor, VGA and two more USB 2.0 ports. The netbook in total has 3 USB ports which is splendid, especially with one USB port placed separately on the right side. We can heave a sigh of relief as the contents are secure with the presence of a kensington lock. With the VGA port, the users can easily connect to an external monitor. The SD Card slot is highly advantageous because it not only reads SD cards but also the Olympus cards.

Connectivity:

Netbooks generally ought to satisfy one of the basic criteria, easy access to the internet. In that aspect, this netbook offers both wired and wireless connection. There could be no major grudges against this netbook because it sports amazing performance for its price. Samsung has come out with yet another beautiful product, the N210 10.1″ netbook. This Korean Company has been surprising its users with few laptops and notebooks every now and then, with the hope of etching a place in the user’s hearts. The leap that it takes from one stage to the next is amazing and it engulfs us into it so much that the man kind finds it utterly impossible to live without its aid. The invention of the netbooks also finds their own place in the society and so does this new entry.

The Samsung N210 Mini Notebook has all the basic features built up in a neat and simple way with a look that is not so attractive but definitely not bad. Even if the looks did not appeal much to the users, there is something that makes this product a big highlight. It is the battery life. The battery life is so really high which is very advantageous for the frequent travelers. The word “Samsung” takes the meaning “Tristar or three stars”. Has this product, done justice to its name? Design:

The black, white coloured netbook has been designed in such a way that it implies one of sophistication and also neatness though it is not completely attractive or cute. The screen of the N210 is a 10.1-inch WSVGA non-gloss LED backlight display type. The matte or non-gloss type means that the users can heave a sigh of relief. The touch pad of the N210 Netbook computer is a smooth and neat one, with two buttons on the base, one for left mouse button and the other for the right mouse button. The touch pad has been placed in the base of the netbook and it functions well. The advantage of this track pad is that it has Multi-touch facility which means that the users can actually view the photos using the multi touch gestures. Three big ports are absent in this netbook. No optical disk drive, no bluetooth and no HDMI either. The absence of an optical drive means that it is not possible to watch movies from the DVD or CDs. Though USB port is a solution for this, the absence of an optical drive can definitely not be replaced. Also, there is no bluetooth facility in this machine. The HDMI port used for connecting to an external monitor is absent. So movies on the netbook can not be watched on a bigger screen. Connectivity:
