The netbook market is fully saturated and fiercely competitive segment played by major computer brands. The strategy behind the ViewSonic is to widen its product portfolio by launching ViewSonic VNB100 Netbook. The monitor specialist Viewsonic has launched two netbook in which ViewSonic VNB100 Netbook is one among them and targeted for people who want to stay connected while on go. This computer netbook mainly designed for quick surfing, chatting and for checking emails with its 10 inch wide screen. ViewSonic is very particular about price range and does not wants to compete with premium segment in the beginning of the launch that is why they have priced this netbook at lower range.

Design:

This ViewSonic VNB100 10″ netbook pc has classic look with glossy black lid and there is not much difference when compared to other normal netbook in the market. It is available in Pink, Yellow and White colour. The upper surface looks smooth and shinning, which is vulnerable to finger print smudges & dirt and needs regular cleaning. This laptop netbook not only looks more generic in manner but also feature less weight with 1.1kg. This ViewSonic VNB100 computer netbook sport three USB port and does not accentuate any point to differ from its rivals.

The right side has given much importance where two USB port is placed along with 5-in-1 card reader and the remaining one is put on left side next to the headphone jack and mic. Having three USB port is one of the advantage for this lower price range netbook when compared to other brands having only two USB. Though it seems uncommon that nobody would make use of three USB at a time, we are satisfied with three port connection for the price we pay. Additionally it has express card slot on the row along with the 10/100base Ethernet connection.

Key pad:

Keys are very closely designed and sometime it looks cramped and difficult for someone having fast typing speed. Many 10 inch netbook been praised for clear labelled and neatly designed keypads, ViewSonic VNB100 netbook pc also joins with the list of admired keypads. Though it has cramped keypad design, it does not posses any rubbish keys at the bay though targeted at lower price segment. Keypad design of this computer netbook is not totally been avoided but taken into to the consideration for analysis and readily been compared with Samsung NC10 and Asus Eee PC S101 netbook that has good keypad layout.

The track-pad is not smooth but it is wide and has enough area to have an interactive session with applications on the screen. Its relative space availability let you to work multi-touch with ease and comprehensive set of functions such as pinching and scrolling can be conveniently done with two fingered gestures. You can also zoom in and out the documents by simply tapping the stretching motion on the track-pad. Everything works fine with out any problem except the track-pad surface non-smoothness.

Screen:

ViewSonic has earned a good name in manufacturing reliable wide screens monitors and we normally expect that this netbook screen would also come from same gem. But ViewSonic has not involved in designing the screen but purchased it from vender including the chassis design. The 10 inch wide screen looks simple and nice without any error. This wide screen is made with TFT LED backlit and has 16:9 aspect ratio with both vertical and horizontal viewing angle. With even backlit screen, the images are sharp with perfect colour palettes. You no need to adjust the screen angle often in order to get the best picture and wide viewing angle does great job. The screen is made with glossy coating, which normally reflects the image and cannot be used outdoor or under any harsh lighting condition.

ViewSonic VNB100 Min netbook is fully equipped with Intel Atom N270 processor with 1GB of RAM. Surprisingly, this netbook pc has 160GB of hard drive space that allows you to save more contents and document files. It uses Microsoft Window XP OS and comes with Built in IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi wireless networking system. Performance wise we are not been cheated but overwhelmed with its surprising features under the bonnet. It has comparable features and ready to be analysed with wide variety of netbook available in the market. This computer netbook has comfortable position to get good rating among users. Its battery life is poor and lasted nearly 1 hour and 50 minutes and does have any exciting features either. This make you to put this netbook connected with power plug all the time and does not provide freedom to carry it longer.

This netbook pc carries one Year International traveller warranty.

Verdict:

There is nothing special about this notebook that ultimately makes it stand out from crowd. The best part is it is less priced and has similar functions and component features compared with most of the netbook available in the market. The battery life and keypad design are some of the drawback of this netbook. If your price conscious and usage is simple you can go for it otherwise look for real beneficial best selling netbooks.
